Gen Con Names Tyler Jacobson as Artist Guest of Honor

INDIANAPOLIS (April 5, 2016) Gen Con, North America’s largest and longest-running gaming convention, has selected Tyler Jacobson as its 2016 Artist Guest of Honor. An award-winning artist, Jacobson has created works for clients including Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Simon & Schuster, Paizo, Inc, Rolling Stone, and The New Yorker. As Artist Guest of Honor, Jacobson will host events, as well as have a prominent placement in the 2016 Art Show. The Art Show is open to all Gen Con 2016 attendees and will feature more than 80 artists.

“I am very excited to be invited to Gen Con this year as the Artist Guest of Honor,” said Tyler Jacobson. “Words really can't describe how much this means to me. Fantasy game art has been my career for nearly eight years now and to be recognized by the industry and my peers is more than I could ever ask for. I am looking forward to meeting lots of great new people at the event and catching up with so many wonderful artists I have followed and worked with for many years now. I absolutely love the community we have all built together, and I want to especially thank everyone at Gen Con who continues to support and further celebrate the passion we all share."

Recent Gen Con Artist Guests of Honor have included Tony DiTerlizzi (2015), Terese Nielsen (2014), Brom (2013), Todd Lockwood (2012), and Jeff Miracola (2011). In a previous press release, Robin Hobb was announced as the 2016 Gen Con Author Guest of Honor.

“Tyler Jacobson’s work embodies what is best about game illustration,” said Jeannette LeGault, Senior Director of Event Programming. “His art transports the viewer to worlds beyond our imagination, creating a sense of wonder, awe, and delight.”

Gen Con 2016 will take place Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Last year, Gen Con set an attendance record with more than 61,000 unique attendees. Badges currently are available at gencon.com.
