Announcing the 2016 Author Guest of Honor

Gen Con Selects Robin Hobb as 2016 Author Guest of Honor

INDIANAPOLIS (March 24, 2016) Gen Con, North America’s largest and longest-running gaming convention, has chosen New York Times Best-Selling Author Robin Hobb as its 2016 Author Guest of Honor. Creator of the acclaimed Farseer trilogy, Hobb has written and sold her work for more than 45 years. As Author Guest of Honor, she will participate in several Writer’s Symposium events at Gen Con 2016, including a book-signing.

“I am very excited to be invited to Gen Con as an Author Guest of Honor,” said Robin Hobb. “I always take great pleasure in the gatherings that combine all our genre arts under one roof. There is not only the opportunity to meet readers and other writers, but to get a larger picture of what is happening in our genre when artists, actors, writers, costumers, and vendors all converge to share the unique creativity of our fields. I expect to make many new friendships as well as renew old ones at Gen Con!”

Gen Con features both an Authors’ Avenue, where attendees can meet dozens of prolific fantasy, science fiction, horror, and other fiction writers, and a Writer’s Symposium, where writers can get tips and techniques from some of the best writers in fiction and gaming.

“We are honored and delighted to have Robin Hobb as our 2016 Author Guest of Honor, said Jeannette LeGault, Senior Director of Event Programming. “Her extensive experience and accolades made her an ideal choice, and attendees will have a wonderful opportunity to meet her this August.”

Gen Con 2016 will take place Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Last year, Gen Con set an attendance record with more than 61,000 unique attendees. Badges currently are available at gencon.com.
