QQ: what's parking like around the convention center? Is it worth driving there each day and where is the closest & whats the cost of parking?
I'm trying to decide if I should rent a car, or take Ubers.
Cheers
Matt

I just checked their website and it looks like they sold out a while ago.
I used ParkWhiz app and was able to get a whole day parking spot for like $15. It is 2 blocks from the ICC. I'm staying by the airport so I had to rent a car to be able to drop off my purchases. It was very hard last year carrying games all day long.
there is plenty of parking at the church also they were nice and very respectful last time and they are located right next to gate 10
For years, I've parked on a lot about 5-6 blocks east. It's $5-10 per day and there's always room.
It's a bit far for some, but I don't mind the walk and I like the price.
How about the bus system? I know it closes down at 10 pm but it should be decent to coming in the morning. Anyone use Indy's bus routes?
There is a new transit center just east of downtown but it tends to be a hangout for the homeless. A lot of fights and stabbings at all hours.
Then about 2 months ago a rider on the red line decided to douse a bus with gasoline and set it on fire. Destroyed the bus as well as $1,000,000 in damage the bus stop on Meridian.
The entrance is on East Maryland Street. The ramp in is just East of the Virginia Avenue Parking Garage. There's a railway on the south side, and a correctional building north (across the street)
In the past, it's been $5-7 for weekday, and $10 on weekends (of course times/prices change). Once I found it, I never parked anywhere else. There's always room, and so far I've never had an issue with my vehicle. If you don't mind the walk, it works.
Sounds like the 101 S. Alabama parking lot. Google tells us that its owner (at least I think it's the owner's site) calls it the "LaRosa Ramp Lot".
Google maps puts that at 7/10ths of a mile east.
I don' t know if it's intended to service the heliport right next door to the east, or be overflow parking for Gainbridge Fieldhouse (the NBA stadium), but it seems to be a nice find. And you're right, it's not too bad a walk.

Edit: A long time ago, I used to use either the "Merchant's Garage" on 31 S. Meridian, or the Circle Center Mall underground parking, where you enter on W. Washington. Those always seemed to have room, although the latter was a rather low-ceiling, tight fit.
Now, well before COVID when we'd drive in from remote hotels we'd use the World of Wonders Garage right across from St. Elmo and Le Meriden. We'd have to get in early, but "early" to be as late as 9am, although we were parking waaaay near the top and it was crowded. But we'd get a spot. Admittedly that was quite a while ago, and I'd bet it fills faster nowadays. But still... that's real close and connected, so at least checking it can be worthwhile.

Thank you to both of you for the information I found the garage you are talking about and I found a bunch of other listed in the parking app one of you posted. I should be good, now to decide comfort, reserve 37 a day(maybe more if they do surge parking) at world wonders. or cheap but with a few blocks walking :P
That garage's drawback is that it's really cramped. Heaven forbid some poor person drive a tall pickup or SUV in. It may fit in a very technical sense, but... yeah...
And yeah, there's always the price vs convenience battle. As well as the frustration issue when a garage is full. The walk to that ramp lot isn't bad at all, and it saves quite a bit over a single day, much less 4 of them. That adds up quick. It's definitely a good find, that's for certain.
Ive always parked at the circle center mall parking garage.20 bucks a day and have always been able to get in, you have to show up by 8 am each day though, but its worth it
We've religiously used GateTen for parking in the past. This year, the parking passes sold out early, so I emailed them to see if any more would be released. They emailed me back and asked me to fill out a form, but then proceeded to send me an already filled out form with someone else's credit card and personal information. It left a really sour taste in my mouth, so I don't think I'll be using them anymore.
For anyone who has used the ParkWiz app before, if I prepay for parking ahead of time, am I guaranteed a spot? or do they just sell as much as they can and then refund anyone who doesn't get in? I'm eyeballing the World Garage, but am worried we're going to get screwed out of a spot.
I've been out of the game a few years, but I haven't heard anyone talking about Capital Improvement Board (CIB) Lot 3 350 West South Street, which has always been my go to. It's the one adjacent to the ICC running along South Street. Generally, you have to get there quite early and pay 20-something dollars but it was reliable since there were no pre-sales. Is that no longer an option because of where they put the food trucks now?
