I was given the gift of training a new employee this week. I looked right at her and said "I will be next to useless this week. You've been warned".
I'm such a procrastapacker, but the rest of the planning I'm OCD about, so we will see.

Procrastapacker????
I *HAVE* to adopt that word! :)
Yup, procrastapacker is my newest favorite word!
Wow, most cool to start Gen Con off with a few extra days on the front end! Unfortunately, I'm working through next Monday...flying in Tuesday. I expect my next Monday to not only drag, but that I'll also be utterly useless...probably just going over my Gen Con checklist and schedule while watching the clock.
At least I don't expect to be the last one on the usual "Last One Please Turn off the Lights" thread.
For those of you who already started packing...and had your badges/tickets shipped...for the love of everything holy, pack them away safely NOW and double check right before you leave.
One last request: If you're already in Indy and swing by the ICC with the Gen Con banners flying high, please post a teaser pic for us! Thanks in advance.
Yeah, if this wasnt a slow period at work right now, I'd be in deep trouble. Or maybe being busy would focus me, i dunno
4 days of work left for me and then flying in Wednesday morning. So ready to be there already.
Sitting here, at work, on the gen con forums with not one but 2 spreadsheets open before me filled with booth numbers, restaurant info, 'what to pack" lists, etc.
I may as well just take the rest of the week off cause I'm useless for the next 4 work days.
So did your Gencon spreadsheet work as an emblem of productivity alittleparrott? :) Just curious!
Heehee, good response! :)
I just trained someone for 15 minutes - that HAS to rank up there as productivity, right? :)
My work has me running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I work at a university where the move-in date for the incoming class is the 24th. It's just starting to dawn on my supervisors that I won't be available after Tuesday next week. They are freaking out....
I
I started packing last weekend. I've been working long hours lately, and need a decent amount of sleep, so I don't have much time to do anything on weeknights. I *know* if I leave it 'till later, I will be a frenzied mess and will forget stuff. So Saturday I did 2 loads of laundry and started packing Saturday/Sunday. It's easy to go ahead and toss in the stuff I won't need during the week (shorts, shirts I don't wear to work, sneakers, cosplay stuff) I've been adding bits and pieces each day when I find or think of something.
Saturday morning (we're leaving this weekend so we can spend non-con time with the friends who put us up for the con) I will toss in the last few things like hairbrush, pillow, etc and we'll be ready to leave within 30 minutes of getting up!
As I said in another thread, I am well aware that no plan survives contact with the chaos. However, if I do what I can to be over-prepared in advance, then the chaos is far less stressful. I like to have the majority of my ducks in something resembling a row. The stragglers can be dealt with as needed. :-)
