Agree    Even if Gencon ultimately goes with masks/vax, one has to accept that every other interaction outside of the event bubble is going to be with businesses and people that are not adhering to whatever standards Gencon has (if it differs from whatever local rules are going on in August).     Only so much within Gencon's control.

Mike - Any chance there's going to be a health update before event registration on Sunday?  A lot has changed since March (case count flat, fatalities down 80%, etc.). I know several groups with mixed people (Mask/No Mask, Fully Boosted/Vaccine/No Vaccine) are waiting to see if there is anyway that they can attend as a group.

May 15 really becomes the date of no return for these groups as event coordination becomes a detractor to navigate.  An update would be appreciated.  Thanks.

No change in the policy, any changes will come when we have a definitive decision.

So how long is the proof of vaccination good for? I've received the first main one in March 2021, the next one in April 2021 and the third one (booster) in November of 2021. We are going to need to know the cutoff date for our proof of vaccination status soon to schedule things to get the timing correct for GenCon.

There is no cut off date for proof of vaccination. If I understand your question correctly. vaccination proof does not expire.

I think his question was more of what will be considered vaccinated for attending Gencon.

Although, probably a policy that is yet to be determined.

Unless something has changed recently, "Fully Vaccinated" is 2 weeks after you have completed 1 JJ dose or 2nd dose of Pfizer/Moderna.

I don't think this is too unreasonable a question. We have all agreed Gencon is free to put whatever policies regarding admittance that they want, and at this point I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that they could be stricter with what they consider "fully vaccinated" than current government recommendations. They are already going above and beyond with the current requirements and there is certainly a constituency of attendees in favor of requiring boosters.
I got the J&J over a year ago and do not plan to get a booster. I have run into people who have opined that they no longer consider that fully vaccinated; people are following whatever science suits them best these days.

If the question is what is considered "being vaccinated" that is something we are working on determining.

Been lurking and watching the forums on this for a while.  I am in the one shot J&J boat as well, I am not getting anymore for any reason.  I have had this virus once before and once after the shot, wasn't much different for me either time.  I really want to focus on gaming, rolling dice, and having fun.  Looking forward to some final word and it would be nice if it comes before June 17th, thanks

Currently CDC considers pfizer/Moderna 2-dose or J&J one dose as ‘Fully Vaccinated’

The window to meet this low bar is coming up:
-Pfizer would require first shot no later than 6/29
-Moderna no later than 6/22
-J&J no later 7/20

If first booster is required it is already too late if you’re completely unvaccinated.

if you completed your vaccine regimen after April 3rd you’re not eligible to be boosted before Gencon (4month after fully).

Just read in the new update about vaccination and masks being required.  Feeling a bit conflicted about the statement that "the majority want the masks to continue".  I have no doubt that is what they are hearing...but in looking at masking practices and polling, the two don't appear to match up.  Case in point: a majority of those polled say that they want mask mandates in public transportation.  However, when you actually go to an airport, you'd be lucky to count 10% masked persons there.  The polling just doesn't match what people actually do.  There is nothing stopping people from voluntarily masking, but when it comes to an individual making their own risk assessment, it appears that most are fine going without.

With the current level of vaccination/natural immunity out there, I just wish that individuals could be left to determine their own level of risk acceptance.  GenCon can require what they will; I still hold out hope that we'll get to masks optional, but it feels like it gets less likely as we move closer to August.

I’m one of the majority that would like masks requirements to be in place.

And I'm one of the (I believe) majority that wants mask requirements removed. Just like we will see four feet outside the doors to the convention center, and at restaurants and hotels all over downtown Indy.

New health update?  Isn't the existing one from January?

There is a new one for May.  Same requirements as before (mask + vaccination req'd)

This is my point.  Many will say they want to require masks, but they don't follow through with their own practices.  (This is not a jab at joho, or anyone else in particular, just an observation from polling vs. practice)

So you don't even have a definition for the requirement that you presently have in place to attend.  And events open Sunday.  That's..... helpful.

Huh.  Yeah, I see on their blog.  I had looked on the webpage which wasn't updated yet.

I'm with you, though, about how would they know that with any level of confidence?  Anecdotally...?  Not a great way to make a claim like that.

I don't believe that statement for a minute.  Who did they ask?  I didn't see a survey go out.  If they actually asked attendees, I bet 80% would say they prefer masks optional.

I've been to at least a dozen events over the past two months -- baseball games, hockey games, packed rock concerts, movies, an auto show, etc.  At most, a low single digit % of attendees wore masks, and I mean really low, like 1-2%.

So maybe you could argue that gamers are a different lot, but that doesn't explain Gary Con, where masks were required and yet had at best 50% compliance in the gaming areas, and maybe 20% wore them in the common areas where they were not required.  I sat at three tables where the players started by taking a vote, and all the masks came off.  If a majority wanted masks to continue, compliance would have been much higher.
