Direct Deposit for reinbursement if outside US?
Posted by triad1

Just curious if anyone knows about this to make sure it is not scam mail.

... I got a message from the Gen Con Finance Department that I have to reply to some "BILL" link to accept Direct Deposit to a bank account if outside the U.S. in order to get my event payout reimbursement.  Is this legit or is Gen Con going to send out Cheques as in the past?  I live in Canada so is this a must now to get Direct Deposit only?

Thanks.

Correct, it's been like that for a while now - they can't sense checks internationally.

There may be other options available, like paying via wire, though there may be fees involved. Finance can give you the full run-down - you can reach out to them at [email protected], and copy [email protected] if you want to keep the Event Department in the loop, as well.

Ok.  Done.  We'll see what comes up.  Kept [email protected] in the loop as well.  Thanks.

You should avoid clicking on any links or attachments in the email unless you're certain it's genuine. If direct deposit is required, Gen Con should provide secure instructions on how to set it up.

It's important to be cautious with messages that ask for personal information especially if they seem unusual. You should Ceck the email address of the sender. Official emails from Gen Con should come from their official domain (e.g., @gencon.com).

You should confirm the information in the correct email of the unit you are working for to avoid confusion and it is better to ask Gen Con to help you send money safely.
