INDIANAPOLIS (January 10, 2023) — Gen Con, the largest and longest-running tabletop gaming convention in North America, today announced badge registration information for its upcoming 2023 convention. Gen Con Indy 2023 will run August 3-6 in the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, celebrating 20 years of events in Indianapolis since the convention moved to the city in 2003.
Badges for Gen Con Indy 2023 will go on sale Sunday, January 29 at noon Eastern on gencon.com. The convention will continue to operate in a hybrid format, featuring virtual Gen Con Online event programming and livestreaming.
“We’re thrilled to return to Indianapolis for Gen Con 2023, which has been our home for the last 20 years,” said Gen Con President David Hoppe. “With each passing year, the bond between the city and our convention grows stronger and we’re looking forward to another great four days this August.”
Gen Con Indy 2023 4-Day and single-day badges will be available for purchase beginning at noon Eastern on January 29. Registration for a free Gen Con Online-only badge will begin on May 7.

Housing registration will begin at noon Eastern on February 12, and event registration for ticketed events will open at noon Eastern on May 21.
The health and safety of Gen Con participants remains a top priority for convention organizers. Gen Con will continue to monitor the guidance of the Marion County Department of Public Health and the CDC regarding appropriate safety measures as the convention date nears. As of January 2023, Gen Con will not require proof of vaccination or masks at the 2023 convention. While continuously monitoring the situation, organizers will reserve the right to change this policy if conditions warrant at any time, including up to the start date of the convention.
Gen Con is the largest and longest-running annual event devoted to tabletop gaming culture in North America. The convention, which began in 1968 in Lake Geneva, WI, takes place each summer in Indianapolis, IN. During the convention, attendees shop and demo games from hundreds of exhibiting companies and choose from thousands of ticketed events representing a wide array of board games, card games, roleplaying games, seminars, entertainment events, and more.
