I gave feedback a few years ago that if Gen Con and GT Moto stayed on the same weekend, I'd be done.   Was an awesome surprise when the following year, the two events were separated!

However...

Indy raising both room costs and taxes, Gen Con price increase on badges despite record attendance (and therefore more $$ already), and too many of the folks I know not showing up any more...   I'm afraid I'm probably done.  :(

Ya, I haz a sad.

Choosing to stay with the failed housing method, huge increases in ticket price, reduction in service and events, and the growing apathy toward any opinions of the attendies and contributors, means no.
My family, my friends, and I, will not be attending.

My family and I will be attending. My daughters and I will again be working in the Modiphius booth this year. New this year, my wife will be attending the full week for the first time.  My wife has Multiple Sclerosis and uses a wheelchair. She has attended on Sunday only in recent years, so we know how to get around Indy and the convention center. She has loved coming for the day and wants to try the entire week this year. We will be checking out accessible hotel rooms and having to balance her need to rest each day. I am up for the challenges and excited for her to experience the week with us.

I'll be there and looking forward to it.

I'm glad that they've decided to give the housing portal another try.  I felt the idea was sound for last year, just a technical failure.

My group of 8 has been going to GenCon every year since it moved to Indy, and some of us have been attending even longer. This is the first year we're considering not coming because of the awful housing lottery. It's a horrible system and the fact that they're using it again fills all of us with dread.

I'll probably do what I did last year. Get a badge to buy into the hotel lottery, and if I win, we'll go. If not I'll get a refund for the badge and call the refund fee the cost of gambling.

I'm definitely going! I just hope the rest of my usual group can make it.

I'm booked for GenCon this year but many of the people that I go with are on the fence.  The increased cost and the crowd challenges around getting events and finding a place to eat made last year a little difficult.  Our gaming group is seriously looking at other conventions to satisfy our gaming itch.

I guess we will just have to see how this year turns out before making any decisions.

I'm planning to go. And will be very annoyed if I don't get to go, since I postponed starting my new job specifically to go to GenCon.

I'm going this year. My triumphant return (last time was 2010)... but none of my friends are going. Kid and wife staying at home.

But, I'm going to be working for one of the gaming companies running demos/events. Makes it a lot cheaper, and I get to hang with some new friends.

Edit: ....aaaand Flights booked. I'm going.

My secret to a cheaper con:  Once I get in town, I hit up a grocery store. Buy granola bars, apples, oranges, juice boxes. Stuff that doesn't need refridgeration, but is a good snack or breakfast.  Avoids the lineups, keeps you going, and healthier.

I'll be there!! Already have a place to stay, so I don't have to deal with the crazy housing part of things.

My wife and I will be there! As will quite a few of our friends. As Indy natives, Gen Con is the highlight of our summer! Looking forward to the Dice Tower LIVE Podcast and sharing our city with so many fellow gamers!

I'm not - I'm going back to Columbus.  I'm more of a boardgamer than a roleplayer, and despite what a few companies have claimed, GenCon is still primarily a roleplayers' con.  Besides, a lot of the events I wanted to attend were night events, and you really need a downtown hotel if you want to attend one of those.  (Yes, there's a bus service, and yes, I'm they guy that hyped it up last year, but the downtown stops are 3-4 blocks away and they stop running around 11 PM.)

Then again, that's more room in the dealer's area for the rest of you!

So Del_Grande..  Where in Columbus have you decided to relocate to??  I am on the E/SE side, in Reynoldsburg..
