Can I return a ticket for a friend?

A friend bought a ticket in his name for an event, tied to his badge.  Can I return the ticket if he's not there & will he get credit (and clear the event from his schedule), or does he need to be there with his badge when returning?

If you have the tickets in your possession, you can return them and the credit will go to his account or refund to his original payment method.

If this is an e-ticket, then you might want to ask the friend to transfer the ticket to you before trying to return it; I don't think you can simply show up at the desk and say 'I want to return my friend's e-ticket'.

If the friend can't transfer the ticket, because you already have an event at that time, I'm not sure what you should do.

Not an e-ticket. Need him to return it so I can transfer the TD ticket I bought for him to him, then buy a ticket to the same event in my name.
