You'll want to read through the Event Host Policy for full details, but in short you just need to come up with a name for your group of friends and submit your event under that group name. Then you can submit a request for a GM badge allocation for that group and assign those GM badges to your friends as necessary.

GM badges are based on player-hours, so I'm not sure where you would have gotten the impression that a given event can only benefit one person, but you don't need to worry. You just need to set up a "gaming group or company" basically and you'll be all set.
